Botanical Inks + Paints Workshop
An experience to begin your journey into the plant to paint process with two local plants - pericón and palo de vida.
We will cover:
- Paint making history
- Color extraction
- Pigment extraction (lake pigments)
- Ink swatch with ph modifiers
- Paint binders
- Fabric preparation
- Hands-on application on paper + cotton pouch.

Workshops are facilitated by Guatemalan artist Mafer Hernandez. She holds a BFA in photography and printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work has been presented at La Fototeca in Guatemala and Root Division in California. Her work is included in the de Young Museum Collection and the Latin American Collection of the Stanford University Libraries.
