Natural Dyes Workshop



An in-depth workshop to introduce you to textile dyeing with different local plants and ph modifiers - 2 plants = 10 colors.





We will cover:

  • Natural dyes history
  • Fiber types and preparation
  • Color extraction
  • Ph modifiers swatch
  • Naturally dyed fibers swatch book
  • Cotton pouch

Workshops are facilitated by Guatemalan artist Mafer Hernandez. She holds a BFA in photography and printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work has been presented at La Fototeca in Guatemala and Root Division in California. Her work is included in the de Young Museum Collection and the Latin American Collection of the Stanford University Libraries.
